01What is a digital menu?

A digital menu is a restaurant, café or bar menu published as a web page that guests open on their own phone — usually by scanning a QR code or tapping a link. Unlike a PDF, it’s built from real text, so it fits small screens, can be translated and can be read by search engines.

Going digital doesn’t mean throwing away your printed menu. Many places keep paper menus on the table and use the digital version where paper can’t go: the QR code, the Instagram bio, the Google Maps listing and messages to guests who ask “what do you serve?”.

02What should a good digital menu include?

Every dish with a clear name, a one-line description and a price, grouped in the sections guests expect. Add sizes for drinks, dietary labels, your opening hours, address and phone — and translations if you serve visitors. Everything should be readable without zooming.

• Sections in serving order: starters, mains, desserts, drinks.
• A price on every item; several sizes as variants (0.3 l / 0.5 l, small / large) instead of duplicate lines.
• Labels guests look for: vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, spicy — plus new, popular or chef’s pick.
• A contact block: address with a directions link, phone, email, opening hours, Wi-Fi and social links.

• A footer note for VAT, allergen or service information.

04Which digital menu design should I choose?

Pick the template that matches your venue — you can switch any time and your content stays. Classic suits restaurants and cafés, Street suits burgers, pizza and food trucks, Gallery suits places with good food photos, and Noir suits bars, cocktail and wine lists.

05Do I need a website to have a digital menu?

No. Your PlatterTap page works on its own: it has its own address, shows your contact details and opening hours, and can be found on Google. If you already have a website, link to your PlatterTap menu from it instead of uploading a PDF — then there’s only one menu to keep up to date.

06Will a digital menu help me show up on Google?

It can help. Each PlatterTap menu is a fast, server-rendered page with structured data (schema.org Menu, menu items and prices) and a separate address per language. Add the link as the menu link in your Google Business Profile so people who search for your place can open your current menu.
